Yoga poses and meditation quiet the logical brain, which may become overstimulated in stressful situations, helping to promote mental peace. Rapid, shallow breathing during times of stress exacerbates anxiety hence, according to Yoga experts, we may reduce tension and anxiety in our life by using techniques like Trataka meditation, Hatha yoga Kriyas like Dhauthi, Nauli, Pranayama etc. In an interview with Zarafshan Shiraz of HT Lifestyle, Himalayan Siddhaa Akshar, Founder of Akshar Yoga Kendraa, shared, “You may use these different Yoga styles and their mindfulness exercises as part of your daily routine to manage and relieve stress and anxiety. Regular practise will help you reclaim control over your body, mind and spirit, which will enhance how you handle obstacles and hardships in life. Keep in mind that the path to inner peace and wellbeing is frequently one of simplicity.” He highlighted – (Photo by Carl Barcelo on Unsplash)

1. Hatha Yoga: The path of Hatha Yoga is one of internal and exterior cleansing. Consequently, it is an extra yoga route in addition to the four conventional pathways. The fact that these movements involve discipline and willpower makes this approach known as Hatha Yoga.(File Photo)

2. Hatha Yoga Kriyas: When the body and mind are purified, then we can be free from stress. In relation to Hatha Yoga, there are six cleansing methods known as Shat Karma Kriyas or Shat Karmas. The six groups of purification techniques used in hatha yoga are referred to as shatkarmas, where shat stands for six and karma for action. Ancient writings like the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and Gherand Samhita describe them. The six shatkarmas are neti (cleansing of the nasal passages), dhouti (cleansing of the alimentary canal), nauli (strengthening of the abdominal organs), basti (cleansing of the large intestine), kapalbhati (cleansing of the frontal area of the brain), and tratak (intense gazing at a single point to improve concentration and purify the mind).(Unsplash)

4. Bhakthi Yoga: Bhakti Yoga brings about the cleansing of the inner self and releases those repressed emotions. By continuously focusing on God or another object of faith, the practitioner’s ego progressively shrinks, preventing additional distractions, fickleness, or even suffering, and fostering deep relationships of love. The best way to feel supported and reassured is via prayer. Devotional activities, such as regular prayer, chanting, or singing bhajans (devotional songs), may calm the mind and infuse you with positive energy. They can also engender a strong sense of confidence in a higher divine force and the goodness of all that happens. It will immediately show signs of assurance, serenity and optimism.(Photo by Jose Vazquez on Unsplash)

5. Kundalini Yoga: Kundalini Yoga helps one form a big goal and work towards it with purpose and determination. A vibrant and age-old practise with roots in Himalayan culture is kundalini yoga. The issue of the body’s energy systems, known as chakras, is a profound one that is covered in kundalini yoga. These seven chakras can provide details about a range of human behaviours, features, and attributes. These seven chakras have each been given a specific hue, tone, and vibrational frequency. When triggered, it enables the practitioner to realise his full potential and acquire superhuman abilities. Body, mind, and spirit elements are all positively affected by kundalini yoga. 6. Saptanga Yoga: Saptanga Yoga uses many techniques like cleansing techniques and Trataka, which means “to gaze” in Sanskrit. Tratak is an old, basic, and straightforward meditation practise that includes fixing your sight on a fixed object, most frequently a candle flame. It’s simple to become lost in the activity of life in today’s fast-paced world and lose touch with our inner selves. Trataka meditation provides a way to re-establish contact with our inner knowledge and achieve peace in the midst of chaos. You may strengthen your attention, build a laser-sharp focus, and boost your general wellbeing by establishing a daily practise. Trataka meditation, according to studies, may significantly improve mental and emotional well-being. It can help reduce stress and anxiety, increase cognitive performance, and improve the quality of sleep. (File Photo)
