Police Inspector: Attackers Kill Cop’s Mother, Loot Jewellery | Varanasi News
Varanasi: Tension prevailed at Parmandapur village in Kotwali of Ballia district on Saturday morning when the body of 80-year-old Veena Srivastava, a retired teacher and mother of a police inspector, was found lying in a pool of blood inside her house.
According to reports, the culprits also looted her gold before fleeing the spot, though other articles in the house were intact. The elder son of the deceased, Sonu Kumar Srivastava, is a police inspector posted at Kanpur commissionerate.
Ballia SP S Anand said around 10.30am, police were ipro who lives alone, was found in a pool of blood inside her house. Soon after, Kotwali cops reached the spot for the probe. During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the killers attacked her in the lawn of her house and later dragged her body inside the house. However, except her earring, no other jewellery from her body and the house was looted, said the cop, adding that the motive behind the murder would be clear with the arrest of the killers.
After reaching home from Kanpur, her elder son lodged a complaint, based on which an FIR against unidentified miscreants was registered in this connection, the SP said. Separate teams have been formed for the probe, he added. Srivastava was staying alone in the house after the death of her husband Kedar Srivastava, who served in Railways in 2005. Her younger son Anand Srivastava is in railway, currently posted in Mumbai.
