YSRC and opposition parties engage in political slugfest over land controversy | Amaravati News

TIRUPATI: The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and a united opposition have locked horns in a political slugfest after about 3,000 acres of land were mysteriously included in the 22A prohibited registration list in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district.
While the united opposition, including the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Jana Sena, BJP and the communist parties who held a round-table conference in the city on Tuesday, alleged that this was all the design of the ruling party leaders who wanted to derive large-scale financial benefits before the next general elections by hook or crook to raise election funds.
BJP’s state official spokesperson Samanchi Srinivas slammed the ruling party for trying to create a scare and panic among the voters of Tirupati by bringing approximately 3,000 acres of land under the prohibited registration list under the 22A category.
“Out of the 3,000 acres, only some acres of land belong to the TTD, while a majority are private lands which have been wrongly included in the prohibited list with a malafide intention,” the BJP spokesperson noted.
“This is a big scam and the ruling party leaders are involved. It was with their instructions that 3000 acres of land went into the prohibited list and now they are shedding crocodile tears and are trying to feign ignorance”, Samanchi Srinivas lamented.
Meanwhile, Tirupati YSRC MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy quickly responded to the opposition criticism on the issue and slammed the TDP in particular for trying to mislead the people over the issue.
“Immediately after some victims whose land registrations were stalled approached me and brought the issue to my notice, I spoke to the inspector general of the stamps and registrations department, the registrars office in Tirupati as well as with the senior officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and I have directed them to clear all the hurdles with regards to the registrations immediately,” Bhumana Karunakar Reddy clarified to TOI.
Tirupati MLA lamented that the opposition parties are desperate to make a mountain out of a mole in this issue but that the people of the Tirupati assembly constituency are well aware of their designs and will in no way fall into their trap.
Bhumana Karunakar Reddy clarified that the TTD JEO V Veerabrahmam IAS also addressed a letter to the state endowments department to address the issue immediately.
As the political slugfest continued, the TDP and the YSRC staged protests against each other’s acts later in the day.
