We will implement 7th pay commission if BJP doesn’t, Karnataka BJP leader Siddaramaiah says | Hubballi News

Belagavi: Leader of Opposition in Karnataka, Siddaramaiah said the state government should implement the 7th pay commission immediately by receiving the interim report.
“If they don’t implement it, we (Congress) will implement that after coming to the power,” he assured.
While speaking to the media persons in Belagavi on Wednesday, the former chief minister said the government never mentioned anything about the 7th pay commission in the budget.
“The government is lying as it has kept money in the budget for 7th pay commission, but not,” he alleged.
“I had implemented the 6th pay commission as per my assurance, that too before the elections. It was Rs 10,600 crores burden on the government. This government doesn’t have the political will to implement the same”.
Further, he said the strike of government employees at the time the code of conduct is likely to be imposed within 20 days, would hit the development works.
Siddaramaiah said the government had spent just 56% of the total budget so far and yet it must spend 44 per cent.
“If employees go on strike in such a situation, spending the remaining amount will be even more difficult. I had alerted the government in this regard well in advance,” he said.
Reacting to chief minister Basavaraj Bommai’s announcement of a 17 per cent pay hike for government employees, Siddaramaiah said the government must announce it after getting an interim report. The report is yet to come, and it has to be presented before the public.
“Even if he (Bommai) announced, it has no value without keeping money in the budget,” he said.
