Vizianagaram Police rescues woman — who faced torture, was confined to indoors in husband’s house for years — after court steps in | Visakhapatnam News

VIZIANAGARAM: The One-Town police of Vizianagaram Town, on Wednesday, rescued a 35-year-old-woman who remained confined to indoors for over a decade in her husband’s house at Cantonment locality in Vizianagaram town in Andhra Pradesh.
The police rescued the woman from her husband and in-laws following the court orders.
Inspector of One-Town police station Bendi Venkata Rao said that advocate Godavari Madhusudhan of Vizianagaram town and Sai Supriya, who hailed from Anantapur district, tied the knot in 2008.
The couple were blessed with three children while they were in Bengaluru.
Later, the couple settled in Vizianagaram and Madhusudhan started practising law in 2011.
Madhusudhan tortured his wife Supriya by not allowing her to speak with anyone and not allowing her to go outside from the home.
The woman had not been ab;e to come out of the home for the past one decade.
Though Supriya’s parents tried to contact their daughter, their efforts proved futile as Madhusudhan didn’t allow them in his home either.
The woman managed to approach the Disha Police in 2019 and informed them that she was physically and mentally tortured by her husband.
However, she withdrew the complaint after she got some assurance from her husband.
But again, Madhusudhan continued to torture her and didn’t allow her to talk to anyone and didn’t allow her to go anywhere.
The woman’s parents came to Vizianagaram in February to meet their daughter, but Madhusudhan didn’t allow her to meet Supriya.
They again tried to meet their daughter with the support of police but Madhusudhan didn’t allow the police and asked them to produce the search warrant.
Finally, Supriya’s parents filed a petition in the court seeking to rescue their daughter.
Based on the court order, police officer Bendi Venkata Rao and his team searched the house of Madhusudhan and rescued Supriya from house arrest.
The woman didn’t see the sunrise and sunset for years as she was confined indoors for years due to harassment.
The woman became very thin due to harassment.
On her release, Supriya expressed happiness, says Bendi Venkata Rao.
