AMBALA: The police have registered a case of disrespect to the national flag in Haryana‘s Ambala City on Friday.
On the complaint of assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Satish Kumar, posted at police post no. 4, a case was registered against an unknown person under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honours Act, at Ambala City police station.
ASI Satish told police that he was watching area news on his mobile.
“In a news video published on a web channel, I was shown that the national flag hoisted on the building of Municipal Corporation, Ambala City is torn and dirty. It is seen in the news that the national flag is torn, which is disrespect”, said ASI Satish.
Ambala City police station house officer (SHO) inspector Ram Kumar said, “The matter came to our notice from a news video published by a web channel. Upon verification, it was found that the national flag was torn and dirty, and a case was registered. It has been told to us that the flag was hoisted by MC officials on Independence Day on August 15, and it was not removed or changed since then. With time, the fabric of the flag got old and torn apart, which is a disrespect to the national honour. There is a code to hoist the national flag.”
The SHO said the investigation is being held and responsibility will be fixed before taking further action.
