Maximum temperature to rise over 3 days in Gurgaon, rain likely next wk | Gurgaon News

GURGAON: The daytime temperature dropped marginally on Friday due to prevailing cold and dry north-westerly winds. It is likely to rise again in the next three days and the city is expected to receive rainfall next week, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
On Friday, the maximum temperature was 29.2 degree Celsius, near normal for this time of the year. It was 29.5 degrees the day before. The minimum temperature too fell by a degree to 15.1 degree Celsius, from 16.1 degrees on Thursday. It was still three notches above normal.
According to IMD, mercury is expected to rise by 2-3 degrees in the next three days, before it starts falling again from March 14.
“The prevailing north-westerly winds prevented any significant rise. But it will become slower, which coupled with clear skies, will lead to a rise in temperature in the next three days. A fresh western disturbance is approaching on March 14, which is likely to result in rain next week,” said an IMD official.
According to the weatherman, the sky will remain clear on Saturday with the maximum and minimum temperatures hovering around 31 and 16 degrees Celsius, respectively. The city’s air quality index (AQI) deteriorated to ‘moderate’ from ‘satisfactory’ the day before. The overall AQI was 174, compared to 84 on the previous day.
Meanwhile, Delhi too saw a sunny Friday. The minimum temperature at Safdarjung, the base station, was 15.1 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature was 30.5 degrees Celsius. The AQI deteriorated but remained ‘moderate’ at 187 on Friday, from 119 the day before.
