TIRUPATI: The YSR district police wing in Andhra Pradesh arrested a group of 19 interstate ganja smugglers and seized 28 kgs of ganja from the possession of the accused on Saturday.
YSR district SP KKN Anburajan said the key smuggler belonged to Anakapalli district.
The YSR district SP stated that the district police wing will invoke the PD Act against the smugglers who have been repeated offenders.
A 40 member special team from the YSR police conducted raids at four different locations and arrested the 19 smugglers.
Apart from seizing 28 kgs of ganja, police also confiscated one four wheeler and four bikes used by the smugglers.
The YSR SP appealed to the people and particularly the youngsters to stay away from Ganja and other life threatening addictions as otherwise their entire future would be spoilt.
The YSR SP appreciated the efforts put in by the special teams in arresting the smugglers and in seizing such large quantities of cannabis.
